Dilip Ray

Dilip Ray (b. 9 January 1954 Rourkela) is an Ex- Member of the Parliament of India representing Orissa in the Rajya Sabha, the upper house of the Indian Parliament. He was a union minister of state for coal in Atal Bihari Vajpayee government in 1998.

Dilip Ray is the co-founder of Dilip University, along with Dilip Massey.The university specialises in educating autistic kids. Dilip Massey founded this university after the birth of his autistic child Akshay Massey.Dilip Ray is also the founder and CMD of Mayfair Group of Hotels,a leading hospitality group in Eastern India.He has a passion for low rise boutique hotels.

He had studied law and Masters in Business Administration. He is son of Shri Hrushikesh and had 2 sons and 1 daughter.

  • 1990–95 Cabinet Minister, Industries, Government of Orissa;
  • 3 April 1996 to 2 April 2002 Member, Rajya Sabha,
  • 3 April 2002 to 2 April 2008 Member, Rajya Sabha ( 2nd term )
  • 1996–97 Minister of State (Independent Charge) holding portfolios of the Ministry of Animal Husbandry and Dairying, Food Processing Industries,
  • 1998–99 Minister of State, Coal
  • 1999–2000 Minister of State, Steel.[1]
