New Friends Colony

New Friends Colony is one of the affluent and posh neighborhoods in South Delhi. NFC consists of A,B,C,D Blocks. D block Community Centre is the main market here which has a Cineplex (Glitz) and Five Star Hotel (The Suryaa) as part of the complex. A multi-level parking lot is also scheduled to open nearby soon. The areas has a large number of international chain restaurants, as well as local Indian chains and other Indian, Chinese and Thai restaurants and various coffee shops. This market has few dhabas as well serving street food ranging from kebabs to shawarmas and everything else that fits into a small pocket.

In addition to food, the market also has few of the most upscale beauty salons in Delhi, and the area lately has turned into a pub district of Delhi. Being a market near Jamia Millia Islamia University and School of Planning and Architecture Hostel and Residential Complex, it gets a lot of youth crowd.

Landmarks

The landmarks in and around the area include 5 star hotel The Suryaa, Lotus Tower (Berjaya Tower) and Escorts Heart Institute. Another prominent landmark in the area is "Mata Ka Mandir" which is also located centrally and is easily accessible from all areas of the New Friends Colony and it consists of many Mosques and Gurudwaras.

Sarai Jullena Market

The market is mainly populated with chemists, guest houses, and travel agents serving the requirements of visitors coming to the area. This area also has a small market for household needs, mainly for kitchen and bathroom. Although these shops are small they have a huge variety with different qualities.

The name "Jullena" is a corruption of "Julienna", which was the name of Aurangzeb's daughter's Portuguese governess. The village was granted to her by the Emperor as reward for her services.

Bharat Nagar Market

Bharat Nagar Market is near D-block, New Friends Colony. This market has basic amenities like food, medicine and liquor shops. Apart from these, this area has many offices and a lot of small shops where people can buy groceries. Recently this market is becoming a minor hub for fitness and sports shops.

Taimor Nagar Market

This market is the new shopping area where many new retail outlets are located. This market is also known for its study abroad training with major providers like PythaGurus, Jamboree, The Princeton Review located in the area.
